West Warwickshire

We are a rural district consisting of eight Scout Groups, three District Explorer Scout Units and two District Network Scout Units. You’ll find us in the lower left corner of the county, home to Ragley Hall – where our 2015 and 2022 county camps were held!

The District

We’re home to 8 groups which carry out Scouting in local communities:

  • Alcester Scout Group
  • Bearley and Snitterfield Scout Group
  • Henley and Wootton Scout Group
  • Salford Priors Scout Group
  • Salter Street Scout Group
  • Studley Scout Group
  • Tanworth in Arden Scout Group
  • Wilmcote Scout Group

In West Warwickshire, we’re a little more spread out than the other districts, but that doesn’t stop us from pulling together. One of our flagship events is Dovetrek – every year we let our Scouts, Explorers and Network loose in the Peak District for a 12+ mile incident hike! Our Beavers and Cubs aren’t left out though, with strong sections across the district who attend their own events.

The West Warwickshire Team

We are delighted to welcome Andrew Wasley as our new District Commissioner / Lead Volunteer for West Warwickshire Scout District.
Andrew said, “I am really excited to be taking up the role and look forward to getting out and about to meet everyone across the district very soon. As an existing member of the West Warwickshire District Team I am already aware of the fantastic work and commitment that happens every week in all groups, giving all our young people an extraordinary experience and setting them up with the necessary #SkillsForLife.”
Andrew will be a familiar face, starting his Scouting journey in Salford Priors in 1987 as a Cub, followed by Scouts, and then a move over to Alcester for Venture Scouts. When he finished Venture Scouts he became Chair of the Alcester Scout Group Executive Committee for a number of years. Andrew came back to Scouting in February 2020 as part of the District Executive Committee as District Treasurer, before taking on additional responsibility as the Chair of the Districts Appointments Advisory Board in July 2022.
Paul Wakeley, County Commissioner / Lead Volunteer for Warwickshire said, “I wish Andrew all the best in the role, and look forward to seeing Scouting in West Warwickshire continue to thrive.”
