Breaking News:
Warwickshire’s County Youth Commissioner is changing!

Known to many as Bubbles, Ben Reed-Screen has come to the end of his term as our first County Youth Commissioner and it is now time to hand the role back.  Huge thanks to Bubbles for his enthusiasm for the role and for moving Youth Shaped Scouting forward in the county.  We have been fired up by your passion for Scouting!

Proudly Presenting…

I am delighted to be able to announce the appointment of not 1, but 2 County Youth Commissioners! Ruth Slaney and Matt Friar will jointly take on the role. Here they introduce themselves:

Hi, I’m Ruth, an Assistant Scout Leader in Kenilworth. I came over from Guides (the dark side?) about 18 months ago after helping the Capulets prepare for the 24th WSJ, which I attended as IST. I’m really looking forward to getting to know more people from around the County! I’m always on the look out for new ideas or ways to make young people’s dreams a reality. I’m always one of the first to sign up to go camping or to help out at an event, but when I’m not Scouting, you can probably find me skiing, playing Dodgeball or messing around with some code of some sort.

Hi, I’m Matt, the District YC for Explorers for Leamington. I have come through Beavers all the way up to Network. Through scouting I had the incredible opportunity to go to Japan for the 23rd WSJ with Warwickshire, and to North America for the 24th WSJ as IST. I had a brilliant time on both, learning about different cultures and meeting some incredible people from around the world. I am very excited to start my new role as CYC; to represent young people and act as their voice in the wider world of scouting!

I wish them all the best in their new roles.  They can be contacted at
