We’re looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring volunteer to help make Scouts truly youth shaped across the County. As County Youth Lead, you’ll champion young people’s voices, support District Youth Leads, and help create opportunities for young people to influence decisions, shape programmes, and lead within Scouting.

County Programme Team roles

The County Programme Team led by Sam Marshall has a number of roles, designed to improve the support we are able to offer to sections throughout the county.

urpose
This is a key leadership role focused on shaping high-quality Squirrel Scouting across the County. The aim is to ensure young people have an inspiring, playful, and well-structured first experience of Scouts that builds curiosity, confidence, and a strong foundation for their future journey.

You will champion excellent programme delivery, support District teams to grow capability, and help create simple but powerful experiences that make a lasting impact on young people and families.


What you will do

Raise the quality of Squirrel Scouting across the County

  • Work closely with District teams to strengthen and enrich Squirrel programme delivery
  • Support leaders to deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities rooted in fun, learning, and play
  • Promote early achievement pathways and help make badges and awards meaningful and celebrated
  • Encourage simple, high-impact community involvement suitable for younger children
  • Support the development of exciting sessions and occasional adventurous experiences that broaden horizons

Build confident, supported volunteers

  • Help Squirrel leaders access practical training, ideas, and resources that make planning easier and delivery more consistent
  • Strengthen confidence across teams so volunteers feel equipped to run creative, well-balanced sessions

Create shared experiences across the County

  • Support or lead County-level Squirrel events where they add value beyond District provision
  • Build strong connections between teams to share ideas, good practice, and activity inspiration
  • Help create a consistent, high-quality experience for all Squirrels, regardless of location

Purpose

This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of Cub Scouting across the County. The Programme Lead for Cubs exists to raise the quality of programme delivery, unlock bigger and better experiences for young people, and help Cubs achieve more than they thought possible.

You’ll champion Top Awards, support District teams to deliver outstanding programmes, and step in at County level when there’s an opportunity to create something truly unforgettable.

What you’ll do

Level up Cub Scouting across the County

  • Work side-by-side with District Programme Teams to raise the bar on programme delivery, from fresh badge ideas to exciting new activities.
  • Put Top Awards front and centre—promote them, support them, and help Districts turn achievement into genuinely memorable celebrations.
  • Back Cub Sections to deliver powerful community impact projects that build confidence, skills, and real-world experience.
  • Work with Section Teams to make nights away bigger, better, and packed with adventure.

Build confident, capable teams

  • Help volunteers access the training, tools, and support they need to deliver brilliant, engaging Cub programmes with confidence and energy.

Create standout County experiences

  • Lead on County-scale events when the moment calls for something bigger than District level.
  • Build a strong network across the County so teams can share ideas, swap best practice, and push each other to do even better.

Purpose
This is a senior programme leadership role focused on strengthening the quality, consistency, and ambition of Scout provision across the County. The aim is to ensure young people experience a balanced, challenging, and exciting programme that develops skills for life, builds independence, and inspires progression.

You will support and challenge District teams to deliver high-quality programmes, promote achievement and adventure, and help create experiences that genuinely stretch young people.


What you will do

Strengthen programme delivery across the County

  • Work closely with District Programme Teams to enhance the quality, variety, and consistency of Scout programmes
  • Support Sections to deliver balanced programmes that combine skills development, outdoor adventure, community involvement, and personal growth
  • Champion Top Awards and ensure they are actively promoted, supported, and meaningfully celebrated
  • Encourage high-quality community impact projects that are youth-led and develop leadership and responsibility
  • Support and promote ambitious nights away, including camps, expeditions, and adventurous activities that build resilience and teamwork

Develop confident and capable volunteers

  • Support leaders with training, resources, and practical guidance to deliver engaging, youth-led programmes
  • Help teams feel confident delivering more challenging activities safely and effectively
  • Encourage sharing of ideas, skills, and good practice across Districts to raise overall standards

Create impactful County-wide experiences

  • Lead or support County-level events where they provide value beyond District delivery
  • Build strong collaboration between Districts to develop shared initiatives, activity ideas, and programme inspiration
  • Help ensure Scouts across the County receive a consistently high-quality and progressive experience

Purpose
This role focuses on strengthening and stretching Explorer Scouting across the County, ensuring young people experience a high-quality, youth-shaped programme that builds independence, leadership, and real-world capability.

The goal is to help Explorer Scouts access ambitious opportunities, achieve their full potential, and progress confidently into wider life and future Scouting sections or adult volunteering.

You will work with District teams to raise standards, expand opportunity, and ensure Explorers are consistently challenged, supported, and inspired.


What you will do

Improve programme quality and ambition across the County

  • Work closely with District Explorer Scout teams to enhance programme depth, consistency, and relevance
  • Support youth-led programme design that reflects the interests, ambitions, and voices of Explorer Scouts
  • Champion the highest levels of achievement, including Top Awards, and ensure they are actively supported and meaningfully recognised
  • Encourage meaningful community action projects that develop leadership, initiative, and social responsibility
  • Promote ambitious and progressive nights away, including expeditions, international experiences, and high-adventure activities

Strengthen leadership and volunteer confidence

  • Support Leaders and Section Teams with training, tools, and guidance to enable high-quality youth-led delivery
  • Build capability in facilitating rather than directing, helping teams empower young people effectively
  • Encourage collaboration across Districts to share best practice and innovative programme ideas

Create and support exceptional County experiences

  • Lead or support County-level Explorer events where scale or ambition adds value beyond District provision
  • Develop opportunities that bring Explorer Scouts together to collaborate, compete, learn, and grow
  • Help build a strong, connected Explorer community across the County that raises aspiration and achievement

Purpose
This role focuses on enabling safe, high-quality, and ambitious activity provision across the County. The aim is to ensure Sections can confidently deliver adventurous and everyday activities that are well-planned, compliant, and exciting for young people.

You will support volunteers to develop skills, gain permits, and access assessments, while ensuring activity provision is consistent with Scouting standards and good practice.


What you will do

Support and improve programme delivery across the County

  • Work with District Programme and Section Teams to strengthen the delivery of Adventurous Activities
  • Provide guidance on safe delivery, including insurance requirements, activity notifications, and relevant policy updates
  • Promote awareness of changes in activity rules and ensure consistent adherence across Sections
  • Support collaboration between teams to ensure nights away and activity-based experiences are happening regularly and to a high standard

Enable safe, skilled, and confident activity provision

  • Make it easy for volunteers to access activity permit assessments across the County
  • Support volunteers in accessing training to gain activity permits or become assessors
  • Help ensure there is sufficient assessor capacity across all activity areas to meet demand
  • Monitor and support compliance with the Activity Permit Scheme, including alignment with minimum standards and good practice expectations

Develop and coordinate County activity opportunities

  • Organise County-level activity events where District teams identify a need for wider coordination or scale
  • Promote and support participation in national activity events and initiatives
  • Encourage sharing of skills, expertise, and best practice across Districts to raise overall activity provision

Alfrey Campsite roles

Warwickshire is lucky to have it’s own campsite the Alfrey Activity Centre.
